Orama Atelier

Orama Atelier creates one-of-a-kind, handmade luxury glass art, offering sophisticated, artisan elegance to any space, from a small niche to a grand foyer.

the challenge

The original scope of work involved retaining the existing logo, expanding it into a full logo suite, selecting fonts and colors, and recreating their business card (as the editable file was lost). Since a comprehensive brand strategy wasn't part of the package, I guided the client through a basic questionnaire to establish the brand’s foundations, goals, and visual direction.

However, as we delved deeper into their brand, target audience, and future aspirations, the gap between their current branding and where they wanted to be exponentially grew. The inspiration we gathered together revealed a strong desire to move towards a more timeless, luxurious, and elevated aesthetic, far beyond what their current logo represented.

the solution

Recognizing this gap, I developed a comprehensive brand presentation with two key directions. The first aligned with our original plan to retain the existing logo and business card while building a cohesive brand identity around them.

However, based on the questionnaire and moodboard, it became clear she was open to exploring other possibilities. After reviewing her current business card and collateral, it was evident that rebranding would better position her business to attract her ideal audience.

For the second concept, I let my creativity flow without the constraints of the existing logo. This option offered a completely new, fresh, and luxurious brand identity, more in tune with her business goals. She instantly loved this direction and happily decided to upgrade her package for a full rebrand.

The concept

I wanted to move away from the existing logo and explore more artistic fonts that reflect the brand's evolving identity.

The founder highlighted 'teaching' as a core value, expressing her desire to inspire the next generation of women to see art as an accessible luxury and a meaningful form of self-expression worth collecting. To reflect this vision, I aimed to bridge the generational gap by moving away from a strictly classic style, which could feel outdated to this audience, and introducing more modern, geometric elements that align with their concept of contemporary luxury.

I also scaled back the use of red in the collateral, as the previous version felt too heavy. Instead, I opted for a pastel-dominated palette, creating a neutral backdrop that allows each glass piece to shine in its true colors without competing with the surroundings. This softer palette also makes it easier for customers to envision the art in their own homes.

Additionally, the red hue was shifted to a richer burgundy, offering a more refined and mature feel without overpowering the overall design.

Typography

Letting the original scrip font go allowed me to land on a heading typeface that could be a worthy embodiment of glass art and Orama Atelier's business values.  
It has a charming contrast of thin and thick lines hinting the fragile nature of glass.  
Each letter has multiple variations to choose from, just like glass it can take up any form depending on the intention of the designer. Like a piece of art, they could be wide, demanding attention and space, or slim and tall, blending into the environment seamlessly. Certain letter combinations are elegantly connected, reminiscent of melted glass.

The new accent font, with its classic calligraphic style, complements the heading font perfectly, adding personality to titles and standing on its own as a sophisticated touch on any collateral. It has a smoother flow compared to the previous font, thanks to its connected letters and consistent slant. While the former script had a slightly Eastern influence, this new font is a better fit for the target market, aligning more closely with the concept of traditional Western luxury.
